Stoll Mantel

Generally speaking, there are two types of mantels. Shelf mantels are a single shelf that “floats” above the fireplace. Alternatively, surround mantels include a top shelf piece, but with legs that run down to the hearth or the floor. Within these categories there are a variety of styles. You can either choose wood in several species, choice of metal color, or stone mantels.

Mantels

Mantels serve both aesthetic and functional purposes. Mantels are essentially a furniture piece which adds character to the fireplace , and serves as a great home for stockings, pictures, clocks etc. Further, there are several ways a mantel can be important to a fireplace. First, if you plan to mount a TV above the fireplace a mantel can be a great way to divert heat away from that TV, thus protecting and expensive investment. Additionally, a mantel can serve as a clean, aesthetically pleasing separation between the masonry surrounding the fireplace, and the drywall above the fireplace.

Mantel Styles

Fireplace and Chimney Authority has been installing mantels in the Chicagoland market for decades and offer a large variety of options from Barnwood mantels, concrete mantels, contemporary mantels, reclaimed mantels, and stone mantels. We have two locations in Elmhurst and Lisle with a great selection of mantel shelves and surround mantels on display.
