Chimney Covers and Dampers

You can keep energy in your home by creating a tight seal at the top of your chimney.  Using a chimney damper stops cold air from coming down the flue and wasting dollars by letting warm air escape. Our technicians are trained to determine the appropriate chimney damper size for the most effective seal and will help you choose from the many style options we have available.

Chimney Caps

Chimney Caps protect the chimney. On rainy days, the caps are there to prevent the rain from falling straight down into the flue system. This will also keep debris from forming. Everytime water falls into the chimney it has a higher chance that the creosote glazes and tars. Chimney caps also protect the house from stray sparks, that can cause hazard to your home.

Chimney Caps come in a variety of sizes, material and shapes. Caps are typically composed of stainless steel, copper and galvanized metal.

Dampers

Having a damper is a very important part of your fireplace chimney. The damper prevents heated air loss through the chimney as well as down drafts when the chimney is unused. These are hooked on top of the chimney, which allows it to close and seal properly.

The Energy Top damper is also known as a top mounted damper which serves as a chimney cap. They are attached at the very top of the chimney's flue liner. These dampers are very easy to operate and use. They are constructed of stainless steel and aluminum. The reason they are produced out of stainless steel and aluminum is to prevent it from rust and corrosion.

What is a Chase top?

Chase Tops are known to prevent water from entering the chimney. Made from galvanized sheet metal, and also available in Stainless Steel, Aluminum or Copper. These Chase Tops are produced from thin galvanized sheet metal with no guide installed below the cover to support the large cap. It then runs the water off the cover of the chase top.
